Organic Nerantzio, a unique blend of Koroneiki olives and local oranges, is a superbly balanced olive oil characterised by its mild, sweet taste, which enhances the flavour of dishes, never overpowering them. Koroneiki olives harvested from Astrikas Estate olive groves and fresh bitter oranges (nerantzi). Nerantzio offers an exotic flavor full of orange blossom essence and the zest of orange peel. Ideal for those seeking a bold, citrus accent in their culinary creations. The whole fruit with flesh and peel is ground in the stone mill. Cold pressing of the pulp ensures optimal preservation of all good substances in the oil.

At Biolea they pride theirselves in the careful and simple cultivation, harvesting and production practices used to produce olive oil with the least amount of processing and damage to the flavor, aromas and health benefits the olive fruit has to offer. As a result, Biolea olive oil has a high concentration of antioxidants and health benefits, up to seven times more total polyphenols than the average olive oil. In accordance to European Union regulation 432/2012, the hydroxytyrosol derivatives that Biolea has, are over 5mg/20gr olive oil. A daily consumption of 20gr of Biolea protects the blood lipids from oxidative stress.

Although the olive trees produce less without irrigation, arid cultivation helps conserve island’s precious water supply and avoid the introduction of non-biodegradable PVC plastic irrigation pipes. At the same time, without plowing or any heavy machinery in the fields to help prevent the increasingly concerning issue of soil erosion in Crete.

Production method: Traditional production (cold pressed and stone ground).
Storage: At room temperature. Protect from light and heat. In the lower temperature, the olive oil may solidify and become cloudy. At room temperature, the oil becomes fluid again.
